Brief Introduction
of Local Transportation
Nanjing Jiangning Science Park is located in southern
suburb of Nanjing city, 20 kilometers away from downtown
center. For being on the main axial direction of the development
of Nanjing metropolitan area, it has strategic location
advantage, which enjoys the convenient traffic.
●○Waterways
Asia's largest inland river port is located 25km north
of Jangning Science Park and 347km west of the Eastern
Ocean. Connected to nearly 200 other ports located in
more than 80 countries and regions; such as: Japan, South
Korea and Hong Kong. This port holds 27 berths with a
common water depth averaging over 12 meters, allowing
25,000 tonnage ocean vessels to travel through or dock
year round. In 2004 this port handled 118 million tons
worth of imports and out-ports, using over 700 thousand
standard containers. Under development on the waterways
is a new port called Longtan, when completed this port
will be able to handle 1 million containers per year.
●○Highways
4 National and 9 provincial highways connect in Nanjing,
allowing transportation throughout the rest of the country.
In addition, a direct highway container transportation
service stretches from Nanjing to Hong Kong and Lianyungang.
Nanjing's total highway freight traffic in 2004 weighted
100 million tons and passenger traffic reached 170 million.

●○Airways
Nanjing's Lukou International Airport is the 10 largest
airports in China, located just 16km south of Jiagning
Science Park. In 2004 over 4 million passengers and 100
thousand tons of freight and post went through this airport.
Lukou International Airport provides 77 domestic and 10
international passenger lines. Moreover, it also provides
5 International goods transport lines that reach 50 International
cities all over the world.

●○Railways
The Jin-Pu, Hu-Ning, Ning-Wu and Wan-Gan railways meet
in Nanjing. These are direct railways that lead to places
such as Anhui, Shanghai, Pukou and Tianjin.Zhonghuamen
Railway Station lies 7km north of the Science Park, while
Nanjing South Rail Station is just 4km north of the Park.
These two railway stations are Nanjing's doorway to central,
northern, eastern, southern and western China. In 2004
the annual total passenger traffic reached 12.944 million
and the total freight traffic amounted to 9.86 million
tons.
●○Metro
Nanjing is the sixth city that has metro in China. The
No.1 line starts from Xiaohang in the south and ends at
Maigaoqiao in the north,and will extend toward south to
Jiangning College Town, becoming the express railway line
on the central axle of the major city zone. By the year
of 2050, the railway traffic line network in Nanjing will
be constituted of 10 railway lines and 4 light rail lines,
with a length of 433 km in total. The line density in
central area will reach to 1.2 km2; that in major city
will mount up to 0.63km/km2; that in city development
zone will attain 1.13km/km2.
●○Oil & Natural Gas Pipelines
The transportation capacity of Lu-Ning and Yong-Hu oil
pipelines account for 20 Million tons a year. Yi-Chang
pipeline also delivers up to 15 million tons of crude
oil a year. The average natural gas supply for Jiangning
district is 11.47 million cubic meters a year. Also set
for development is a natural gas transportation pipeline,
which will be able to distribute up to 12 billion cubic
meters of natural gas annually to Eastern and Western
China.
